HELP ME READ CARFAX REPORT, Good deal? Bad deal?

PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND LOGIC? JUST SPENT $40 DOLLARS ON VEHICLE CARFAX REPORT FOR A 2004 JETTA TDI GLS MANUAL 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION, WITH 141,000 MILES, I AM PURCHASING AND COMMITING PRIVATE PARTY SALE $8500 CASH WITHIN THE NEXT 48 HOURS CASH DEAL. SHOULD THIS REPORT CAUSE ANY PRICE NEGOTIATION THERE SEEMS TO BE NO MAINTNECE RECORDS FOR THE LAST 141K MILES OTHER THEN OIL AND FILTER CHANGES, AND I WILL BE TRAVELING FROM NEVADA TO CALIFORNIA(4 HOUR DRIVE HOME) TDI SHOULD RUN ME FROM SAN DIEGO TO LAS VEGAS WITH NO MORE THEN A FULL MKIV STANDERD FUEL TANK RIGHT...? TRIP WILL BE APPROX., 270 MILES) AND IS THIS AN OK DEAL CONSIDERING THIS CAR FAX REPORT BELOW;

I think the price is pretty high. The carfax report isn't cryptic. Not sure what you're asking here.

Carfax reports are very general by nature, they just collect what's on record.
All we see is the car was wrecked in '04, may have sat til '08 and was sold at auction

Price sounds high. I bought same thing with less miles, in Vegas a few months ago for 8K. Mine was 1 owner, clean carfax, 105K mi Hope this helps.

I wonder why the car was turned out to auction? That may be an indication there are problems a dealer didn't want to deal with. A car is usually submitted for auction when, after trading a car in, it is deemed economically unviable to fix and sell. Personally, I would pass. Price is too high and this car has changed hands more often than Lindsay Lohan's seen jail time.
