Excise and sales tax are two different things.
If you purchased a replacement car for less than VW paid you, but the state still kept $205 of your taxes, then they must have broken out the restitution and only given the credit on the "vehicle value" (ie you received a credit that was less than the purchase price of the replacement vehicle).There was no breakdown given.
Received $1795. of the $2000. I paid in State and local taxes.
Better than I was expecting.
Since I purchased a vehicle that was less than the buyback I received.
No, CA doesn't give any credit for even proper trade-ins.I wonder if CA would do something like this.....
