a popular mod on the Golf is/was to reverse the hatch struts so the lift gate would actually open itself... wondering if anyone has had success with this on an A3

I can't see how that'd make any difference, still the same force applied

Yeh but he added springs for the extra lift, you can also get boot popper kits and use a 3 button remote, then you just hit the button and lid pops open.

Ha ha, I meant 'how would the air springs know?'
Adding springs is a cool idea, though. I'll try it with some springs I have lying around.

cheers - worked fairly well for me and others on the Golf, just had to cut springs to the right length. the A3 hatch struts are longer and at a shallower angle, so it may take some experimentation
