Just a reminder.....

Tractor Supply has had the Rotella T6 5W-40 synthetic engine oil on sale for $19.98 per gallon since back in late November. That's a couple dollars cheaper than Walmart...

The Sale Ends January 31, 2015.

I think the sale ended January 25? I picked up a couple more gallons for my TDI fleet over the weekend.

Actually, the sign said through the 31st. It was up at the local TS on the 27th when I posted this Thread. But, the ad sign is down now.

I keep stopping by Mr. Walton's place and finding T6 with $5 mail in rebates. I give them to the boss and she sends them in. Shelf price is about $21 so $16 is worth the hassle. Especially now that we have the Transit to change every three weeks.

I looked at the price on a 33 gallon drum from NAPA and gallons from wally world were still cheaper.

At our local Walton's there are no more $5 coupon rebate jugs left on the shelf.

The sale must have ended early at our TS $22.95/gal.
Should have bought at WW for 21.95 no rebates.

I just bought 8 gallons for work at the $21.95 price with no rebate stickers. I will just keep an eye on them and watch for the rebate stickers.

With the one gallon already on the shelf and three gallons per oil change this will get me to about mid-april. Except I need ten quarts for the Sprinter every five weeks as well so I get to spend lots of time hangin' at Wally World.

Dog,

A bit OT, but...

Are normal diesel 15w40 and diesel 10w40 oils allowed for use in this? Changing oil every 5 weeks is going to be expensive.

It calls for 5W30/40. Figure $65 every five weeks. 52 weeks in a year so $65 X 10 is $650. $650 divided over 120,000 miles is just over half a penny per mile for oil. If we were using the Delo from our barrel it would be $33/LOF, so half the price. $325 difference per year isn't much at all when you look at the income.

Yeah. It's part of doing business. Look at it this way: The more miles we go, the more money we make. So the more often I am changing oil, the more miles we have gone, the more money we made.

And what we spent on just repairs on the old 6.0L the last two years would have bought us a new Transit.

(Yes, I know I rounded numbers, but it gives you an idea.)

I just realized you are talking about the Sprinter and not the Transit...

They both get the T6 every five weeks. It's just the Sprinter gets it at 5000 miles and the Sprinter is 9.5 Qts not 12 like the Transit so it's a bit less yearly cost. The boss is adamant about the 5000 on the Sprinter.

Transit 120,000 MPY. 10,000m OCI

Sprinter 50,000 MPY. 5,000m OCI

FYI

It is still on sale at Autozone.

Shell Rotella T6 5W-40

Regular: $28
Sale: $22 (-$6)

Autozone also has a rewards program. For every transaction over $20 you earn a point. After 5 points you get $20 off your next purchase.

So if I buy five of these (1 a day for five days), my 6th one will be free PLUS you'll have saved $6 x 5 = $30.

I'm not sure when the sale ends but I'm stocking up.
