Does anyone have specs on the "roller" dimmer switch on ALHs, specifically resistance values?

Mine had some magic smoke come out of it today, so I yanked it immediately. Still reeks, but I'm not sure how to diagnose it vs. the rest of the wiring harness.

It seems like I could simply jumper the pins together with some wire, and regain interior (but nondimmable) lights. Any reason this wouldn't work?

Check/verify your part number at http://www.oemepc.com/

I get 1J0941333A for '02 Golf

Search this part number at ebay... around, or even less than $10, multiple sources.

Some used, some new. These switches are still out there (and most other switches!).

Thanks, but I JUST ordered it from fleabay. Amazing how many of the ones for sale lack the metal clips.

Do you know if it steps the voltage down for the lights, or can I simply hotwire the hot to the variable output to give the lights 12V? I'll be in the dark until ~ Jan31 when this arrives.

This might work, even if it is British. I don't think there is a difference.

New old stock (N.O.S.). There is no better replacement part.

That's a rare part you have there. Vaporware (a.k.a. "unobtainium");)

While your at it, don't forget to top off the blinker fluid.
