Hi forum, I have spent over $5400 maintaining and improving my 2003 jetta TDI (all invoices in hand). Perfect starter car for the VW enthusiast in your life! It runs off diesel so you know it’ll last forever and gets between 45-50mpg. I am a Volkswagen enthusiast and love this car, keeping up to date on all tire, brake and oil changes. Major work includes replacement of the timing belt twice, installation of a higher gear clutch ($1600 worth of work), addition of bigger fuel injector nozzles for faster acceleration, and implementation of software tuning. A coolant heater (block plug in) was added, the pressure converter replaced, and a vacuum tube was applied. Price is $4500 per Kelley blue book value suggested retail price; mileage: 174,000.
