Yeah, I copied some ubuntu steps for the raspberry pi, applied it with vnc. The Ubuntu steps are all over Google.

Its nice. I'd recommend. Think outside the box.

Just a heads up for anyone to does this... please see our FAQ 1.4:
https://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/faq_1.php#1.4

As best I can tell, if it works, it works fine for pulling fault codes and reading live data, but Basic Settings might have issues... so if in doubt, legit boot up Windows and try again.

Jeff-you guys should port the software for Ubuntu (I know).
The raspberry pi, with a small display seems like an ideal set-up for VCDS.

Exactly. I just bought a screen yesterday!

Screen setup is niiiice. Although vnc is still slicker then poop, coming from a bash and ssh guy....

No issues. Everything works. Logging, basic settings, adaptions, coding, code pulls,

Obviously since there's no issues being emulated, I don't see how it could be difficult to port...

Python anyone?

And don't hide behind the popularity reason.... I
*nix/bsd ownz..... I started with OpenBSD...

I actually have the pi in a nice aluminum laser cut and braked case, in a window holder. Cords tucked away nicely.

Way way way better then polar I think, not as pretty and integrated, but far more superior via functionality for $36. It was my router, then my bridge, then access point (with 3 wifi and 1 wired network nicely routed and filtered with iptables) , then my pi-hole, THEN driveway camera, so i bought a screen and tried vcds....

Hmmmm, what's next? I have 6 of them. All spoken for too...

Hmmm... PoE with tcp/ip... That sounds fun.
