For those of you with the 2.0 PD motors and are doing a chip upgrade, make sure your vendor knows that it has an OEM EGT sensor installed. I only have pics of where I installed my sensor, didn't think of taking pics of the OEM but it's in the way, it's in a perfect spot which messed me up and I had to fab the manifold to make a location for the aftermarket sensor.

I emailed Jeff at Rocket Chip but haven't heard back from him. I don't know if this was bypassed on my programming for stage 2 but when replacing the turbo I found the EGT there. And yes, my turbo was blown when my engine went but it doesn't mean that the sensor was bypassed either.

Just some FYI for those of you out there. And it's possible the Jetta PD motor also has an OEM EGT as well.

Where did you end up installing the aftermarket EGT probe? I have one that I plan on installing, but am unsure where to mount it. I know I want it pre-turbo, but as you stated, the stock EGT is in the perfect spot...

He mounted it right on top, forward of the EGR port. I have the old engine here at the shop in pieces, bent tone wheel, mangled pistons, and all .

Wow, that sucks about the engine... what was it broken TB or BS issue?

Was it top mounted, rear facing or what? You wouldnt be able to snap a pic would you?

I will try and get a pic.

This engine had the chain break, and the crank was ruined, and the new crank had a bent tone wheel, and it all went downhill from there...

I would be far more worried about getting that chain out of your engine than I would any EGT gauge.

yeah seriously. VW really fed up with those chains.

My main reason for the EGT is the fact that I am planning on an RC2 and want to keep a close eye on my temps. Im trying to minimize dismantling of my 41K BHW
