Boston TDI Mechanic Recommendation

I would be interested in learning to DIY at some point...

However, I am about to have a new engine put into my TDI (the lifter broke, which caused the head to crack). I was hoping to find somewhere I could bring it for some third party verification that everything looks all right after the replacement.

I was looking for a non-dealer with some experience in TDIs. I would appreciate any recommendations...

I would have them look at it before the replacement and see if they agree it needs replacing instead of just fixing it. If it does need replacing I would have them do the work. Unless you have some experienced tdi person you trust, which it sounds like you don't.
