Hi guys. I'm in a bit of a bind. I'm in bavaria right now, and the diff has started screaming as I came off the autobahn.
Currently in the car is a 5 speed CUS gearbox.
I'd like to go 6 speed, every disaster is a chance to upgrade.
I've found that later B5 boxes are cheap and available. I've identified, I think, that my driveshafts and clutch will mate up to the newer boxes. Can anyone tell me if the speedo sensor is also the same? I have found an ARX and a FRF box locally, I think from B5 passats.
I have found a gearbox from an AEL and I'm certain that's a straight swap, but he wants 400 euros and the input shaft looks damaged at the needle roller bearing with the crankshaft.
Hopefully someone has tried this before.
