Driving with a faulty air bag?

The saga continues...

For the last couple months I've been waiting on a driver side seatbelt replacement and now something has gone wrong with the driver's side srs. Should I even drive the car now knowing that both the seatbelt and srs are not 100%? The dealer's (yeah I've been to two and called VWoC) haven't warned me not to drive the car but I have a feeling it's not in my best interest to commute 300kms everyday with these problems. Any recommendations from the group? The SRS problem stems for a pyrotechnic charge of some sort that is part of the seatbelt/srs system -- any ideas what this maybe officailly called?

Thanks,
bd6

bd6, I don't know whether my problem was the same as yours, but my then new (2001) Golf last year had the airbag warning light come on. It took a month to get it fixed, waiting for a part, but the dealer in Huntsville, Alabama, supplied a rental car. They did not want me to drive it with a faulty airbag.
