Did anyone else notice how the presidential limo bounced over the speedbumps after the inauguration? It looks like it needs new shocks really bad. Heavy duty shocks, of course.

There's no doubt it's a heavy sucker. Look at how thick the doors are. But it looks like they left the stock Cadillac shocks on it after they beefed it up.

I can just see him on Pimp My Ride when he pulls up and starts bouncing the front end off the ground.

Check out this pic from Autoblog:

Note:
1: the size compared to the Secret Service agents alongside
2: the rear springs leaves
3: the 19.5 inch tires
This is 99.99% truck with a Caddy grill

As for the previous thread about a diesel engine? May be an 8.1 l (496) gas?

Don't forget those are runflat tires too. I don't even want to know how much those cost the taxpayers.

No, they are supposed to be runflat.

The glass is 6" thick and does not roll down.

The inside is a sealed environment from the outside, capable of producing it's own air (oxygen canisters) if required. There are also teargas launchers inside.

No, they are not run flat tires, they are "Kevlar reinforced, shred and
puncture-resistant, with STEEL RIMS underneath enabling the car to
escape at speed even if the tires are blasted away."

No, not the same as run flats.

Again, standard truck tires on special rims.

One thing is for sure - this vehicle easily weighs in excess of 10,000 pounds. The SS Agent driving will be doing NO evasive maneuvers with this beast - no J-turns are possible with something that weights that much. It'll go in a straight line, and reluctantly turn corners with a skidpad figure of probably 0.4g or lower.

It doesn't need to do any evasive maneuvers. That's what the Gatling guns in the Suburbans are for. :D

Well according to wiki.....

they are...

Most details of the car are classified for security reasons. It is completely fitted with military grade armor 8 inches thick for maximum protection, and the wheels are fitted with run flat tires. Due to the thickness of the glass, much natural light is excluded, so a fluorescent halo lighting system in the headliner is essential.[5]

They even have a source.

Wikipedia is notoriously wrong.

I'm sure more details about this thing will become available as time goes on.

That is true, but their source is PopularScience.

But you're probably right, only time will tell.

Sorry man but that link and cartoon really should make your BS meter go crazy. I would take ANYTHING in that cartoon with a grain of salt. It could be factual, but by backtracking to the original article Mr. Mopar found it in, I don't see anything credible. I would be shocked if the secret service released those specs and details of the car's features.

The graphic was made by John Lawson, a random dude who knew that such a drawing would go wild online. Seriously Google him, he's a nobody. IMHO, it's just a fun-to-look-at speculative drawing.

I also would bet money the Presidential Limo does not use run of the mill Goodyear truck tires.
