Hi all.

Thanks to Herm TDI's excellent instructions, I managed to diagnose my overheating problem as a lower radiator hose gone flat. ('03 manual w/173k, TB/water pump done at 100k by car 54, gunked intake manifold/EGR valve/EGR cooler and dead injection pump replaced last summer at 160/161k.)

Ran into trouble doing the replacement, though (in addition to the miserable 95-degree Virginia heat): there is a clip/band that lashes the lower horizontal segment of the hose to the radiator fan assembly, and I can't figure out how to unlatch it. Any ideas on how to clear this nuisance clip? It seems like I could cut it off and just loosely wire-tie the new hose to the fan assembly (and if that's a reasonable idea, tell me), but I'd prefer to do it with the factory equipment if possible.

Thanks for any assistance you guys can provide.

If it's like most ALH coolant line clips, you use a screwdrive to pop it loose. A lip on one end of the clip engages a slot on the body of the clip.
