I'm putting in a Dash Cam in my '96 Passat Wagon and would like to know which switching power supply connection in the fuse block would work the best? I'd like the unit only to power with the " ignition" on. The camera draws little current.
I could figure it out using my meter but if you have done it,it will save me some time.
Tank you.

One thing you could do is use the provisions for an option that your car doesn't have. For example, I pulled power from the rear wiper circuit when I put a dash cam in my jetta since it doesn't have the rear wiper (just plugged it right into the switched power terminal on the fuse box). Won't be quite that easy for you since you have a wagon. Perhaps the heated seat circuit? Figure out where that plugs into the fuse box, then pull power from there.

If you have a moonroof, that would be a switched circuit and the wiring is right up there near the top of the windshield.
