electrical noise thru radio?

I am experiencing a lot of apparently electrical interference when I have my radio on the AM band. This does not occur when I listen to FM. Every time I press on the brake pedal or when I have the turn signal on you can hear it thru the radio. I also have a lot of static on AM.
Any ideas on what I could check to find the exact cause?
