As many people have already asked, please post a complete AutoScan. Here's a video that shows how to do it:

I have a very similar problem. I am using a cheap KKL cable with VCDS Lite 1.2. I can't imagine the problem being with cable or computer. Because in my case all the modules work perfectly, but only Engine module is the problem and it user to work just last year with same cable.
I tried to reset the ECU by removing fuse 29 and putting it back. Did nothing.
I am able to communicate with Engine module when engine is not running. When I start the car, then I get too many communication errors ONLY from Engine module.
I am getting slightly better results when 9600bps is selected, because with 19200 the measurement blocks etc. are grayed out but at 9600bps they function. But in any bps setting, things stop working when I turn on the engine.
Anyway, the autoscan is attached. I am not sure what it will help because it shows everything perfectly fine.

Nevermind, I thought was the radio mod I have done to get k-line into android to radio to read data from dash. http://evren-yurtesen.blogspot.fi/20...m-triplex.html
I had an additional cheap usb adapter there behind radio I thought removing the 2nd adapter fixed the issue somehow because it started working all of a sudden. But then it worked when I plugged back everything exactly the way they were. I have no explanation... Maybe the wires were getting interference somehow and when I moved them around it started working. I will try to see if it happens again or not.
One thing I found was that the ECU works only when adapter is set to at 9600bps
