Default Charge Air Cooler Water Radiator EA288

If I am correct the water radiator for the CAC is located in front of the main radiator but I am confused if the CAC radiator is connected to the engine cooling system or not and shares coolant, and if not what is in it? Is it sealed for life, no maintenance needed? Looking at the diagrams it looks like it might be totally independent but can't tell for sure.

I actually have that doc but couldn't find the info in the CAC section but just as the email came in announcing your reply I happened to find it in the regular cooling system section....

Amazing that VW media actually put this document together with such detail yet screws up so much other information they put out to the public.

The circuit is separate. There's a one-way valve that allows coolant to only enter the circuit if it's low. There are two different versions of the radiator, a hot climate and normal. Dimensions are 5mm wider and 11mm more depth on the hot climate vs normal.

Not sure if the mk7 plumbing is the same as my 2015 passat or not, but if I plug my car in (canadian model) for a few hours, my charge air cooler is just as warm as the head, so the 2 cooling circuits must be joined someplace else other than the one way valve, otherwise it wouldn't warm up from the circulating coolant heater.

Thanks, when you say two versions are you referring to the engine coolant radiator or the CAC cooler? My car is hot country on the build sheet.
