towing ability of a dsg vs std trans

Having never owned a auto car in decades, MY passat of course is std trans, and I tow a ton easy with it,, so wondering how comfortable and safe is a dsg trans for towing ? thanks

I had a DSG on my 2010 Passat Wagon 2.0T (gas) and towed my Popup trailer weighing 1800lbs dry and closer to 2300lbs loaded with, battery, propane, water, and 3 Kayaks on roof. Never had any issues BUT always drove it in manual mode when towing otherwise it would hunt between gears with frequent shifts. Even on mountainous terrain it was fine. However my Passat was tuned to 250hp and 290lbs/ft tq so that helped.
