P0128 code

Hello,
I had my check engine light code read and it came up PO128 (2004 TDI Jetta). We had the thermostat changed 28,000 miles ago with the timing belt so I assume it is the CTS. My husband usually repairs everything and he is out of phone/contact range and I have to pick him up with a 500 mile round trip. Is it safe to drive the jetta with this code on the round trip so that he can fix it when he gets home or is it worth risking the female swindle risk before he comes home and get it fixed before the round trip?
Thank you,
:) Kristin

It'll just be the cts but if you drive it for 500 miles you might find you get low mpg's due to it. I would just get it replaced, not a big job at all.

Thank you very much for the quick response. I appreciate it. :) I have infant twins and I do not want to break down in the middle of Arizona in 100 degree heat on the way to get my husband, especially if it is a quick fix.

Do you recommend a Volkswagen specialist or can a general mechanic fix it without me having to worry?

:) Kristin

I was thinking I saw proceedures on how to adjust the time the ecu believes the coolant temperature should be read within using VAGCOM. I can not find this thread now, was this just wishfull thinking or am I missing it?
