Hi All,

I have been reading everywhere about VDS-Pro and getting the FOB Auto Windows Mod to work on my 2004 MkIV GTi Australian Version. After a non co-operative Central Convenience Unit finally started to play ball (after removing the positive battery terminal and removing and re-installing each fuse) I have been able to get into the area of the car required to complete this mod.

Before I write to the EEPROM, I need help understanding how to get the value that was previously there. From the picture below, how do I know what the value in address 4283 was? I want to understand this first just incase I stuff something up so I can get it back to where it was.

BTW, my module's number is 1C0 959 799 B, see picture below from VWTool;

So the research I have down shows that the following address require changing;

1C0 959 799 A (any index) and 1C0 959 799 B (any index) for Sedan
Memory Address old value new value
04361 74 66
04362 74 66
04363 74 66

or

1C0 959 799 B (Wagon)
Memory Address old value new value
04361 75 67
04362 75 67
04363 75 67

1C0 959 799 B (Wagon)
Memory Address old value new value
04361 74 66
04362 74 66
04363 74 66

1C0 959 799 B (Sedan)
Memory Address old value new value
04361 74 66
04362 74 66
04363 74 66

These have been taken from the below thread on this forum;

I'd like to try all these to see which one works but I need help to know what the values are in these address now before I go and change anything.

Any help is appreciated.

BTW, great forum, its helped me greatly in getting VDS-Pro to work with my car.

Cheers

Hi All,

Nevermind on the above post, I figured it out and completed the mod.

All my windows now open and close with the holding of the button on the remote. YAY!!!

BTW, my values were;

Address, Old, New
04361, 10, 2
04362, 10, 2
04363, 10, 2

Now I want to do the Illuminated Needles and Distance to Empty Mod but from what I read, this cannot be done with anything else but Vag Tacho.

I have a simple Vag Com Serial Cable that works with both Vag Com, VWTool and VDS Pro, will this cable be sufficient to complete this mod?

Below are the results from Vag Com and VWTool;

From other information I have gathered about this, it appears I have to do the following;

For the distance to empty mod
Address - $416
Replace byte "C1" to "E1"
Save it and then re-flash it

For the needle illumination mod

Amend byte "0001ED"

Amend the second digit only to get the different effects:

3 - displays only e.g. "30" becomes "33"
5 - gauges only
7 - displays and gauges only
9 - needles only
B - displays and needles only e.g. "30" becomes "3B"
D - Needles and Gauges only
F - all lit up

The above information is using vag tacho 2.2 so I really do not understand it. Can anyone explain it?

Can these be completed with VDS Pro and the cable I have?

Is there a serial cable version of vag tacho 2.2 that can be downloaded?

Any help here would be great. Feel free to pm me.

To the best of my knowledge, the only way to mod a cluster is with VAG-Tacho. Your best bet for info would be to contact Nihilator here. I had him flash a hybrid Bora Sport cluster with the needle/display illumination. I will say, that makes for a very pleasing mod. Looks good at night when you first light up the engine.

Yes, it appears most Right Hand Drive cars use these values.
