I posted in this thread but realized later the thread isn't in the Golf Mk 6 forum, so I am asking the question here again:

The heat from the area between the firewall and the engine on the passenger side is making the mat floppy and unable to retain its shape, so the tab on the mat cannot stay inside the slot on the underside of the hood.

Any idea? I am thinking about yanking off the entire mat...

The Story so Far

So far I have put strips of velcro (the hook side) onto the hood inside the slots and then attached velcro (the coil side) over the ends of each tab. That worked for about a day (until the tabs themselves started to come apart.

My next step is going to be actually putting a hole through each tab and then a rivet to keep the velcro in place. At that point I see no way that it could fall down unless the glue on the hood started to let go.

My next project. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Oh, and I have the updated hood insulation (this is my second unit). It comes with a heat shield embedded into it. The tabs still suck, however.
