Well guys i think my passat finally died today. I was going down the highway doing 80 then a bucking noise and popped out of 5th and when i hit it with my generic scanner ot said torque converter then it said problem with going into fifth. Its in limp mode and now wont go in reverse or neutral. Any help would be awesome. Maybe the range sensor or the tcu but the tcu was also dry i checked it out. Please help i'll give you my first child b5.5 2.0 TDI 186 K

In your original post there is no mention of this. So is it in limo mode or is it shifting gears?

I'm also having trans problem. Had rebuilt, $$$$, still not working correctly. Think it's the TCM.

I have a good TCM from my swap that can sell cheap.
get under the car and look to see if there is grey looking fluid leaking, it may just be coated underneath. If so you may have experienced the dreaded TC failure and as a result spun the pump housing bearing. Which has now shot billions of tine metal shards in to your transmission. Mine did this and it shift too. You can rebuild it yourself and it will cost you about 1000 bucks. www.erikssonindustries.com Best source for parts.
