__. I'm in the middle of all this kinda in reverse (my "new" wagon came with only a valet key). I'm told that the "key cut" is the same but the valet key is thicker and it won't go into the tailgate, etc. So, yes, you can cut off one to the other. Both have the transponder in them and that's a total pain in the @ss! It seems that there's no way to "initialize" the new key without getting raped at the dealer or going to a chip maker (unless you happen to have the "SKC- secret key code").

They are both .118-.119" thick however the valet keys side relief (cut on the side of the key) isnt cut all the way other than that they are 100% identical. It's not just the tip its the whole length of the key.

A valet key can be modified by removing a bit of material to open everything.
