In northeast Wisconsin, diesel prices were pretty steady following the refinery attacks, while gasoline inched up gradually about 30 cents/gallon, until just recently.
Just recently, gasoline prices have dropped to the pre-refinery attack prices, while diesel prices recently shot up about 20 cents/gallon here. Now, diesel on average is about 50 cents/gallon higher than gasoline.
Anyone know why diesel prices have just suddenly gone up while gasoline prices have gone down, at least in northeast Wisconsin?

I'll bet these early September snowstorms caught a lot of distributors/stations with summer grade in their tanks.

Does timing of winter blend differ between gasoline and diesel?
Also, isn't winter blend diesel less expensive (typically) if D1 is mixed with D2? If additives are used to lower the cloud/gel temps for diesel, I can see a minor cost impact, but not a 5-7% increase.
From what I have heard part of it is the refineries excuse to jack up prices and the increased use of home heating oil adds to the higher prices.
I know my mpg's go down a bit during the winter.

My understanding is that winter blend is now accomplished in most areas by additives.

Fuel in SC is still hanging around $2.79. hasn't come back down since the Saudi pipeline attack.

Historically, diesel always rises relative to gasoline at this time of year -- usually beginning in August. The events in Saudi Arabia pushed up gasoline prices at a time when they typically start to decline. The spread has returned to normal or close to it.
Another factor: the harvest season is a time of heavy diesel usage, and it's likely to be delayed this year as farmers want to wait as long as possible, trying to eke out every possible bushel of crop yield. It's going to be a poor harvest but will still require just as much fuel to power the tractors and combines. (Probably slightly less than average for trucks, locomotives, and tugs.)

2.649 for D2, 2.699 for RUG in Aurora CO. this morning.
Mostly 2.75-3.05 for D2, while RUG is running from as low as 2.459-2.499 with the high range up as high as 2.70s around metro Denver today....

I spoke too soon! D2 dropped yesterday by a dime to $2.69. Rug is holding at $2.29.

Between Charlottesville and Richmond va i have seen anywhere between 2.79 and 2.99 per gallon..

Hey, I'm a So. Shore resident, too! But I haven't seen diesel that low near me.
Managed to pay $3.28 at the NY/MA border today en route to Michigan. Thought it would be cheaper at a truck service center than a Thruway stop. Wrong. Thruway was $3.05 - $3.15. Mass Pike service centers were $3 even.

At the Valero station in Oroville, it is $4.25; meanwhile the casino station around the corner from me went up 30¢ to $3.59

Yesterday I saw that the Shell station in downtown Oroville was now a Speedway! First one I've seen in California. The prices are much higher though - D2 is $4/gallon. Meanwhile, on Thursday I filled up at the casino station around the corner: $3.499, down 10¢ from Oct 5th.

In Halifax on Oct. 12, 2019 the present price of 'clean' diesel is 117.4 cents Cdn per litre or 89.5 cents US per litre or $ 3.39 per US gallon

Paid $2.49 in Lake Wylie, SC last Thursday. On the Fort Mill side of the lake, it was about 20 cents higher.
