Hello everyone,
I registered to see if my Golf TDI can find a final set of caring hands, and be it just for parts, instead of taking it to the junkyard.
Red 2002 Golf TDI with 301,000 miles. Manual transmission, four doors. Last TB replacement at 284,000 mi. Engine mounts replaced at 300,200.
Engine runs fine, with a little rough idling that goes away at 1,100 RPM or so. 48 mpg.
Breaks need major re-do, estimated by shop ~$1,100. Car not safe to drive, should be towed. A/C broken, was told compressor needs to be replaced if you want cooling. Other things in suspension were proposed for repair by garage. Door seals could be replaced. Headlights sort of dull. Only minor rust spots here and there, in general the body looks good.
Sad to see the car go that had driven me, and then our kid, since I bought it with 22,000 miles. But had to draw the line here, am not a mechanic.
