96 B4V Starter Ring Gear Replacement P/N

Several of the teeth on my starter gear are stripped and it's getting worse in the cold weather. I need to drop the transmission and replace the gear. I've read a bunch of posts on how to do this.

The issue is I can't seem to locate a part number or retailer for the gear. I know it's supposed to be part of the flywheel, but it's definitely removable and I assume it's used on a bunch of other VW's. Any ideas on where to find one? Maybe just my local junkyard. What other VW's had the same ring gear?

Thanks.

I’d think any 02A equipped car would have this ring.

I’d think you’d want to use penetrating oil and only a little heat, then press it off. Too much heat will anneal it and you’ll soon be missing teeth.

Probably easier to find a good flywheel, then just swap the clutch.

FYI, the teeth on my starter are not actually stripped - I had just assumed they were because that's what a mechanic told me. I've posted another thread following up on this. Should've just replied to this thread, but posted that other one first and can't delete it. Oh well.
