GL4 transaxle fluid (G070726A2) - $13x2. 100K miles.
DOT4 brake fluid - every two years regardless of distance.
Hydraulic steering - seems to be stable and doesn't need frequent replacement, if at all.
Engine oil CI4+ 5W40 (or VW505.00) 10000 miles. M1 TDT is one of the better lubricants available at FLAPS.

5000 mile engine oil changes increase wear due to more frequent washing of anti-wear additives with detergents.

J, the ODI on the 1Z was actually 7500 miles, not 10k. However, using one of today's robust API oils, I'm sure 10k miles would be fine.

I would suggest changing the PS fluid based on my Passat B4 ownership experience.

Yeah, in 1999 VW made mineral oils obsolete (wrt 505.00 at least), so the old interval should have extended with it.

The 1Z/AHUs are such a similar base engine there's no reason not to use 10K OCIs with even 505.00.
