hi folks,

this is my first post and i have been reading the posts on this great site for many hours now.............i have just aquired my car (2001 bora tdi alh motor) and have carried out the turbo strip which was a great success........

now i am used to the power (or relative lack of it) i would like to ask some advice......

should i fit pp520's first & why not just injectors from a 110 bhp motor?

will i have to change the IQ (i have vag-com on order).....if so what are the channels required to find and carry out this mod'

is the EVRY mod still "in favour" or shall i go for a tuning box or chip?

panel filter (k&n) or stock item?

i appreciate most of this info is out there, but when reading the posts, most of them eventually deviate from the original question, leaving you to search again

keep up the great work and usefull tips on this site

best regards
steve

Welcome Steve..........i havn't got vag so i can't answer that one but the best way to add performance would be to buy some nozzles like the sprint 520's , pp520's or sprint 764's from someone like www.kermatdi.com who is on this site.

And then after having them balanced before fitting and say a couple of thousand miles on them have someone from one of the various tuning companies map the car for you.........this way you will not have to touch the pump and get the best out of the injectors plus performance and drivability.

Jabba sport , revo tech , van haaken , chip wizard , superchip and more can carry out this type of work for you .......i take it that your motor is a 90hp and where abouts do you live.

HI,

cheers for the responce, you wouldnt recommend the EVRY mod then, you'd go for the re-map route

im in Lincolnshire, and i'm a VW Technician (35yrs old) , but obviously this sort of work isnt what we do,

my interest in it lies in furthering my knowledge and getting more "go" from my motor as i cant really afford a PD Golf as they are just too expensive (even with staff discount)

earlier today i saved a pdf file for changing the nozzles "GeWIlli" or something? but the link no longer works?

do you have a link at all?

we have a diesel specialist just down the road at work so i'll get him to strip and set up the injectors

to cap it off...........you'd recommend a custom re-map over the revo/tunit items?

Your a vw tech.........you poor thing LOL.....yes i would recommend a re-map ever time when adding larger nozzles , if you wanted round about a 25hp increase and were going to stop there then the tunit would be ok but not if you want more and wanted to add more mods..........which then becomes a habit and drug/addiction wanting to have more and more plus ££££'s.

P.S........am i right in thinking that Allard motorsport who specialise in tdi tuning are around your area!!

ha ha ............. yeah being a vw technician isnt much fun nowadays due to the times given and pressures of the job, not to mention the customers!!!!

but it has its benefits (like getting elsa 3.3 on my laptop, all the case study training books too)

but lets not go there.............

Allard are in Gloucester.............im on the east coast (cleethorpes)

my brother is a tunit dealer, but i suppose they are for stock vehicles, and if i go the injector route then the tunit box wouldnt be much use?? i suppose i could ring and speak to their technical dept??

this is addictive and reminds me of my xr3i days when i was 20

ha ha
