What is this and how do I repair it?

During the installation of my BRM bypass filter I noticed that this hose is torn.

Hot air duct from exhaust manifold to air cleaner box

Probably not a biggie as is, won't affect the performance, though if you are concerned, a spot of decent duct tape, or just get a new one...

Thanks, I'll have to have a look how to get at it! Maybe I will just go the duct tape route...

I had this exact problem I noticed when I pulled out my air box to disassemble the transmission. I had some of that reflective tape used for some types of duct work and it didn't seem to adhere to it well so I used duct tape around it. That worked!

In TX I wouldn't bother with it, unless traveling to a cold climate.

When I bought my car (used) all the underhood was in soot. "Heh, it's a diesel' I thought. But after doing some maintenance I saw that the duct in question was simply disconnected from the airbox! I reconnected it and clean the engine bay. Never had any soot underhood since that.
