Car is sitting on a lift at my buddies place. I had done this years ago but cannot remember.

passenger side cv shaft, boot had baked under the turbo/downpipe and i accidently tore it at a seam.

when you take out the triple square bolts, can you angle the knuckle so that the transmission side just falls down? or is there a splined dowel or something.

best place to get a new boot? dealer? partsource? ct?

Undo the dogbone mount and you can swing the engine to get room. Can't remember for sure but I think you take the outer joint off then slide the boot along the shaft. Best to check on that though.

There should be a curved plate that sits there above that cv joint to protect it from the turbo heat.

If I recall I usually undo the lower ball joint, and swing it out of the way.....and yes there should be a Sheild that protects it from the heat. I have never replaced a boot, so I have no idea about their availability
