I hope this is the right place to post this. I'm looking to import either a Mk4 4motion Jetta/Golf wagon, or a Touareg R5 TDI. I found an old post from 2015 from Frans who was importing European cars to Canada. I sent him a message but haven't heard back. Is there anyone else who does this? Or someone who can help me out with finding a LHD car from a European country?

I've found importers who will import a car for me if I find one, but they aren't willing to help me find a car unless its from Japan.

Thanks in advance

TDIMeister imported an AUDI and wrote about this here.... Contact TDIMEISTER, he would know more

I'd check with a couple of shops on the east coast that're familiar with this stuff. I was in at kraftwerx in August and they had a newer caddy as a shop truck, they do some very serious builds and did a tiguan TDI recently with an imported trans. Vantage motors, dealership up in Truro, is really familiar with the local race scene too.

German car specialist is in Calgary and probably has some local connections too. B-pro auto is in Calgary and although they mostly do JDM stuff, process is similar for 15YO stuff. Frans hasn't been doing much importing as it's a lot of work and there's not much demand/people typically aren't willing to pay the premium.

In years gone by a company in Puerto Vallarta bought about 20 TDI Jetta here in Mexico built to US specs since they intended eventually to sell them up north.

I see quite a few VW Caddy's here on my travels so possibly they can be exported/imported to Canada with required modifications.

BTW Owain: Happy as hell with my stage 2 tune:eek:

I talked with importers in Calgary and they will import the car but I have to find the car and handle the purchase side of it. Problem is people in europe aren't super enthusiastic about selling a car to someone in Canada. In other words, I think I would need someone to find the car for me and help me purchase it. I'll see if I can get a hold of some people on the east coast. I was hoping I could find someone willing to find a car and bring it here for me. I think paying someone else to do the process is worth saving the headache.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing myself.

I know someone who managed to get a LHD German spec Bora 4Motion, from Japan! I guess someone in Japan got it from Germany, and subsequently it was brought to Canada. So that is a possibility, although a rare occurrence I'm sure.

I've been talking to Frans. Sounds like he's willing to help out. I've also seen a few bora 4motion vr6 sedans, but that doesn't interest me too much!

Be sure the car is extremely clean, free of soil, plant or wood matter, either anywhere in the car itself or in the container it is shipped in. The CFIA is very stringent on this. If a cleaning is ordered, it will be several hundred dollars. This is a not-so-bad case. Worst case is the vehicle is sent back to its place of origin and deemed inadmissible in Canada. All at your dime of course.
