So we had our 2012 Jetta in the shop already this year for a cracked DPF and bad temp sensor. It was covered under the emissions warranty and not a big deal. Now my daily drive, the 2011 Jetta is throwing the same code that the 2012 was. My 2011 has 90K miles so its' emissions warranty is expired.
It seems to me that it is only a matter of time until this system fails. It cost $1,954.61 to fix the cracked DPF and temp sensor which I am thankful that the emissions warranty covered.
You can clearly hear an exhaust leak from under the car where the DPF is leaking. The 2012 had the same exhaust leak sound.
Before I shell out 2K from my pocket to have this replaced I had a question for all of you knowledgeable TDI club viewers:
Will the upcoming dieselgate fix from VW take care of the emissions failures?

If I have to shell out $2K to fix it then why not pay $2500 and have it deleted and tuned? That way I never have to worry about it again?

Personally I would hold off on getting that fixed... because the solution to the big EPA debacle could render your brand new DPF obsolete. Maybe find a junkyard DPF or get a delete pipe?

I'm waiting to see what happens with dieselgate then I'll be deleting mine. Id rather spend the money now then to wait until it fails
