2000 jetta tdi

I have a 2000 jetta tdi for sale.
187,000 miles
timing belt new at 179,000
Has transmission issues that i have been trying to work out for about 8 months
shifts great through 2nd gear then nothing
Gave up trying to fix it, too hard to get help figuring out whats actually wrong and I'm tired of throwing money at it and getting no results. I'm in the Pittsburgh PA area. more information as requested.

Is the transmission an auto or manual?
