rear window defogger not working

My rear window defogger is not working. The switch light comes on and off but nothing on the window works. The fuse is good. Any ideas.

The tiniest scratch can go right through one of those heater element lines. Did a pair of skis or anything else scratch the rear window?

No skis but perhaps something else. I will check. Is there a quick or relatively affordable fix? Something I can do myself?

They used to sell repair kits for the traces, was just a small tube of epoxy/paint with metal flakes in it, was as simple as painting over the breaks (if you could find them).

I used them once or twice a long time ago; it's been years since I last even looked for such a thing, but they're probably still out there somewhere...

One of my defroster lines is not working, don’t understand how one of the lines in the middle can stop working, just takes a minute or 2 longer to clear it totally out

Broken wires in the hinge area? I had this on my rear hatch of my Golf. Three of four broken wires IIRC.
