So I hit a road hazard and damaged my fuel cooler and a fuel line:

Digging into this further, I am astonished at the cost of fixing what should be a simple thing like this. The fuel line I need (1K0201219B) is not sold as an individual item, but is part of a two hose set that costs $200, as it is a dealer only item (1K200059AP). The fuel cooler (1K0203491D) can be apparently ordered online for as little as $164, but the local dealer is quoting North of $260.

If this was not a VW, simple fuel hose clamped on bayonet fittings might cost $20 total. Proprietary VW fittings seem to be unavailable from any other than the dealer. I found part number PA12-GF30 on the part I would need in order to make my own connection hose, but cannot locate a source.

Has anyone found a source for connectors that fit on VW fuel line fittings? The aluminum tubing diameter seems to be 8 mm. Has anyone made their own lines?
