Engine Wiring Harness Replacement

Our 05 Jetta sat in the garage for a year and the mice decided they needed parts of the wiring harness for their home building activities.

The dealer said it needs a complete new wiring harness. He also said that to replace this harness would require the engine removal.

Is this correct? I know that the harness(es) go everywhere but engine removal seems a little drastic. Is it true that we need to pull the engine to get to all the harness?

Thanks in advance.

There are just too many to list....
No, you do not need to pull the engine. I've replaced a LOT of BRM engine harnesses due to common chaffing problems.

It is easier to take the plastic coolant flange off the end of the head, so plan on replacing that (you won't want to try and reuse it), and it is a good easy time to replace the tandem pump gasket and clean that area up.
