Yet another water pump topic

Anybody here in a position to comment on the relative quality/ longevity of a new vs rebuilt water pump from VW? I'm coming up on TB change in about 3K mi and am planning on changing the pump out. $125 for rebuilt vs $185 for new sounds inviting but only if the quality is there...TIA

The only difference b/w a new and rebuilt water pump is that the rebuilt water pump uses the same casing but everything else is new. I would go with a aftermarket pump with metal fins instead of the plastic fins that vw uses.

hmmm, yes i have also been considering aftermarket pump with metal impeller. i'm waiting for dieselgeek to get some in stock to compare quality with the OEM part....good suggestion though...
