P0299 code

While driving yesterday I heard a slight pop, then right afterwards my car lost alot of power. Glow plug light started flashing followed by the CEL. I was able to drive it home but without that much power. Pull the codes and got a p0299 code (low boost). I looked for blown off hoses and listened for some sort of hissing but nothing. After some research I came up with a diverter valve going bad. Does this sound about right to y'all. Or what's your guess?

More than likely the turbo broke. Take the air inlet tube off and inspect the impeller. Assuming you feel confident you have checked all the charge air tract for anything broken.

Common. TSB about it. Warranty extension, too.

Code is shared with the EA888 platform (they also get P2015) which actually has diverted vale.

Could also be VNT actuator going/gone bad right?

His description sounds exactly like the typical case of the CKRA turbo shaft breaking in two.
