bad sounding ticking noise

I heard a ticking noise from my jetta onetime when i started it up. I got a video of it here. I am not sure of exactly where the noise is coming from. Not sure where to start diagnosing the problem. Any help is appreciated!

Look for threads about the alternator pulley. That's what it sounds like to me. An easy repair, and a common problem.

Threads as in the timing belt?

Not at all. The alternator belt only connects the air conditioner and alternator to the crankshaft. I suggest you find a local mechanic who knows TDI VW's.
