I was on a long road trip this weekend (Ottawa to Toronto and back) and just before getting to Toronto I got a CEL. I do have to mention I was doing pretty high speeds at certain points, could this have potentially cracked my DPF from the heat? Car was still driving fine though and the oil looked good so I just drove it back home.

I scanned the codes and this is what came up:
Code:

I do have a Malone Stage 2 tune on the car, and I had previously had the DPF & EGR deleted (got it reinstalled due to smell). I was seeing intermittent DPF flow codes for a while but figured it might be the engine not being used to the tuning.

This is what my DPF values look like:

It doesn't seem like the DPF should be full at this point. Could it be cracked or defective in some other way?

I have the same codes, but I'm sock and post fix so the new DPF and whatever else is required are covered by the warranty. I'm scheduled for August 1st to get the new DPF.

I always said I'd go delete if I had these issues, but that was before the fix and the extended warranty. I'm surprised you added back the DPF after the delete and a tune.

Good luck, but I think a re-delete is in your future unless you want to pay for a new DPF.

Yeah I did have that thought - hopefully it's something less drastic than a cracked DPF.

I cleared the codes and restored to the stock VW tune (post-fix) for now to give the exhaust temps a break, I'll wait to see what happens. So far I haven't gotten a check engine light again and not even an intermittent code in VCDS (minor codes I was getting before that don't flag the CEL).

If I do need a DPF replacement, I guess I'll just hope for the best that VW turns a blind eye to the tuning (or doesn't notice)

P.S.: I noticed in your signature you have the CP3 fuel pump, did you have this installed after your pump failed or you just added it for the extra reliability / power potential?

I had the CP3 installed before dieselgate. I was past the 120K extended warranty and didn't want to have a problem so I got the better pump. The dealer hasn't given me any problems with the new pump. They did the fix with no comment except they said they looked hard for issues. I think maybe they were suspicious I had other mods. They've also been good about the extended warranty after the fix. I got a new intake manifold, a new #2 injector, and in a few days I'll also get a new DPF. So far, so good!

the problem with DPFs and the P0401 error code is that the DPF cracks, soot passes to where it should be not, and clogs up the low pressure EGR filter/screen/tube.

Thanks for the info. I think I did notice some soot in the tailpipe, and it sounds like it's only a matter of time before I get another CEL.

What do you think are the chances of VW fixing this considering the # of flashes that will appear on my ECU?

Mine also took an entire day and I had to wait until they received a new DPF to be delivered, but they said it went very well and everything came off without a problem. It sounds like sometimes it's a real pain in the neck to get the old one out. They cited seized mounting hardware as the issue.

So far so good with the new DPF and P0401 didn't come back even though they didn't touch anything related to the EGR as far as I know.

I just received the P2002 / P0401 code, on a car I just purchased used 86k 2012 Jetta.

Taking to dealer tomorrow for full diagnosis, but it would appear a new DFP is in the works??

Bumping this to the top - trying to diagnose my Mom's 2002/401 codes
Going to need more detail than that - what are the symptoms? It's most likely what the codes say - clogged DPF. Is she still under warranty or has she had the fix done? That usually comes with a warranty extension. Just take it to the dealership and they'll more likely than not replace the DPF.

The fix was done but it was still covered by the extended warranty.

Couldn't help but come across this tread as I was doing a quick search on the P2002 and P0401
codes. My wife's CEL lit after a 150 mile drive. If its the DPF, this will be our 3rd DPF, post dieselgate fix. Last one was replaced about 20K miles ago. We use the VW correct oil in the car, no mods, etc.

have you had any work done on the EGR system at the time of DPF replacements? when the EGR is clogged, it fouls the DPF, makes for sooty tail pipes, & excessive and long regens. i just had this work completed (by my request at the time of 2nd DPF in a few thousand miles). same exact codes as you and am all good now. 1000 miles in, i have only noticed one short active regen.

I had ours replaced post-dieselgate under the extended emissions warranty, NOW after 40K miles I have both of the above codes as well as P240F. We took apart the EGR and cleaned both it and the throttle valve ... reset codes and now they are back on. Ugh, I can only imagine what the cost of the DPF replacement is. When I talked to the VW parts guy, he said usually those codes mean EGR cooler, idk at this point. Love the car, but the emissions crap on them is terrible.
