Default 2002 Jetta TDI GLS Wagon, 204k - CA, $3900

Parting ways with our 2002 VW Jetta TDI wagon. GLS with black cloth interior (no rips or major stains) and good body (Indigo Blue Pearl color). Heated mirrors and seats, power windows and locks, sunroof, and cruise control all work as they should.

Here is a quick summary of main maintenance/repairs:

* Just had its full timing belt service (including water pump with metal impeller, tensioners, rollers, and cam/crankshaft/vacuum pump seals), along with vacuum lines where needed.

* Recent transmission service (fluid drain/refill and filter replaced); shifts smoothly. I know that it's an 01m, but she hanging in strong, in part due to regular service.

* New tires and brakes all around.

* New fuel injection pump and front suspension refresh (lower control arms bushings, ball joints, and struts) at 160k.

* Oil/oil filter changed every 8-10k w/ Rotella T6; fuel filter changes ~ every 20k. Both changed for sale.

I have had a couple of people inquire about the automatic and its shifting and overall performance .. shifting smooth with no hard shifts, delays, etc. Not all 01M are bad (although a lot go south) and this rig has had frequent ATF changes with filter.

One person was interested in doing an auto-to-manual swap. Could easily be done, but not necessary. That being said, I have been able to get swap parts for $400-550 in the past (just found one for a friend for $450 without clutch, which I would change anyhow) and labor has run me $650-850 in the past. You should consult a TDI mechanic on the TDICLUB in your area if you are considering it and looking for pricing.
