Hi Everyone.

Someone just rear ended my 97 Audi A6. It was in great shape and ran very well getting at minimum 1000 km to a 75L tank, I had managed 1200 before. None of the drivetrain or anything was affected, all the damage is at the very back with virtually zero damage even externally once you start at the back doors. Fuel tank and rear suspension appear to be completely unharmed. Essentially the most optimal donor you could ever hope to find. I put Honda S2000 Hid projectors in the Audi headlights, it looks completely factory but transforms the vision the car has at night. It also has a diesel fired Webasto heater with remote option so you can preheat the car with the press of a button from inside your house or work.

Car is from Alberta and is currently in the Calgary area. I have a thread on it in the diesel conversions section though mine used all factory parts so it isn't really a custom deal like some projects are.

I'm open to offers, this is a very rare car and would be great for doing yet another swap into a C4 Audi (100, 200, A6, Ur S4, Ur S6) which would be a bolt on affair, or any older Audi or VW (Such as the van) that was capable of having a 5 cylinder engine. I also have many parts from the T4 2.5L TDI Van such as the intake and exhaust, wiring and computer in the event the engine would be better suited for that.

Please contact me for further information.

Dave

Just checking before I decide to make a decision regarding what I'm doing with this car... no one on here interested in using this car as a donor for a fun project? It is the last of the simpler swappable engines and they don't come much more bulletproof than the AEL/01E combination. Please contact me if you are interested.

Some pics to see condition and damage would be very useful. It seems that repair of the back of the car would give a better option than putting the drive train into a car not made for it, IMHO.

Hi Mike, thank you for your reply.

I don't think it is reasonable to repair the back of the car, but I'm not an autobody specialist. I think swapping everything over to another C4 is the easiest way to get the same car going again. It is a pretty straight forward swap into almost any Audi that had a 5 cylinder engine. I personally think it would be really interesting in a 1991 coupe quattro.

Check out my kijiji ad, it has photos of the car only minutes after the crash right at the scene.

The C4 Audi sure can take a hit, trailer is really what saved me though.
