I have an isuzu 1.7 TD. It boosts at 0.8 bar from 2800rpm onwards. The boost is slow to build, and the engine lacks power off boost. It is rated at 82bhp.
I have fitted a one way valve and a fish tank valve in the pipe to the fuel regulator part of the pump. This keeps the fuel rich for about 4 seconds after boost has gone (foot off throttle). It improves the pickup a bit as more gas is made by the engine.
In the past I have also used electric valves from montego up/don heater controls with 3 fish vales to give 3 boost levels. This was achieved by having a switch that selected none, one, other or both fish valves.
Now questions.
Can anyone give max boost pressures? Has anyone tried electrical or pneumatic low pressure assistance to get the turbo to spin up quicker (In series with the incomming air)?
Does anyone else have any DIY mods they would like to share?
