I finally got around to installing my malone stage 3 ecu in my 2003 alh last night.
My car has
-straight 2.5" turbo back
-egr deleted
-g60/vr6 clutch kit
-pp520 injectors (i think)
I had originally ordered sprint 520 injectors but when I pulled my nozzles to install the sprints I noticed that the nozzles in the car had "pp520" inscribed on them. I assumed this meant they were pp520 injectors someone else had already installed even though the car was unmodified, so i sent the sprints back.
Now with my car working properly, and tuned ecu installed I have a definite increase in power. Its not going to win any races, but its peppy now, much better than before. I dont really have a reference point to compare to since I have never been in any chipped tdi before.
I did notice this morning that there is zero black smoke emitted from my car. I see that other tuned up tdi's smoke some. Not that I want my car to smoke, but it seems that most tuned diesels do smoke some. It is about zero degrees F here right now, so that could be part of it.
I am wondering if i am still a bit underfuelled? or is this normal. I know zero smoke is optimal, but I am wondering if I somehow misunderstood what nozzles I have in there or something? Am I leaving some power on the table maybe?
I have IQ set right at 4, car runs very smooth.
Do other people with similar setups have any black smoke?
