AdBlue Fault - Engine will not start in 650 miles

Hello
The VCDS log for NOX sensors was: NOX 1 - 206 ppm, NOX 2 - 1650 ppm. Are these values for the NOx ppm in spec or out? Other VCDS info is available if needed to answer my question.

Any help will be appreciated. This 2012 Touareg TDI has already had the AdBlue system replaced less than 10,000 miles ( less than a year). This car has not been used much in the last year.

Thanks

John,

I'm not sure what the NOx values have to do with your message that the AdBlue must be filled withing 650 miles.

Let's start with the obvious: Did you fill the urea tank since this message came in?
Next, did you reset the system? This involves inserting the key in the ignition, but not turning the car on for at least 30 seconds. My own experience is that it does not always reset the first time. Don't ask me to explain why....I don't know. Most of the time, as reset isn't necessary at all.

You state that the AdBlue system was replaced 10,000 miles ago, but there is a lot to the system. A tank, a pump, a level sensor, urea lines, and an injector. I am struggling to believe that all of these components were replaced. Is it possible that the tank level sensor is still original?

Be aware that Volkswagen has found religion with respect to the AdBlue system and now puts this under the emissions equipment warranty (go figure). On the off-chance that you have less than 80,000 miles on the car, they should replace any failed components under warranty. Since a fix has not been approved (to the best of my knowledge) on earlier 3.0L Touareges, and the fix includes a warranty extension of every urea component until 120,000 miles, I would not be surprised if they fix it anyway (assuming you are under 120K). I'd strongly suggest talking to the dealer

Instead of adding onto someone else's post you would probably get more and/or better responses if you were to start your own new thread!
