Hey, replacing the cam on my 06 Jetta this weekend, putting in frank's cam. I understand the torsion setting makes a huge difference on fuel mileage, what should it be set to? Or how should one go about figuring out what the best setting is? Any information would be awesome as the work is going to be done tomorrow.

The general consencus is a setting of "0", not advanced nor retarded by automotive definition. this will yield optimum performance and fuel economy.

Have you obtained a VCDS cable and license yet? this is required to set your torsion properly.

The mechanic I have doing the cam replacement has VCDS and all that fun stuff, I'm trying to figure out where it should be set.

On every belt I change, I set timing to 1.2-1.5 degrees advanced to account for belt stretch over the service life of the belt.

Below zero will result in a "Lumpy Idle". I would agree with Slammer that Plus 1.2 to 1.5 is probably the sweet spot for Torsion.
