Hoping somebody can help me avoid pulling my dash!

While replacing my blend door bushing...Felt it engage the blend door and was able to open/close it, so I pushed the bushing hoping to feel a nice "click" into place, but..."click" never came.
Pushed harder, thinking "Gee, it didn't take so much effort last time".

Pulled the bushing out and when I tried to replace it, I was unable to get it to engage the door again.

Pulled dash panels/glovebox/radio/climate controls apart to view blend door.
Bummage. It's out of position and jammed in the plenum box pretty bad. If I put my finger into the bushing hole, I can see it where the bottom of the blend door is supposed to pivot

Big oops. And another big slice of humble pie.
Everybody knows the moral of this story: if it doesn't wanna go, don't force it.

Meanwhile, it looks like I'm pulling the dash and plenum this weekend unless anyone has a trick?
Please...Somebody...

I hope you didn't have to pull the dash. When mine broke and the door appeared mis-aligned I found that running the fan helped center the blend door. Then it was just a matter of finesse and feel to get it to click in place.
