First of all stats: 01 Beetle manual/ has 185k on it/ just replaced fuel filter.
Now I was just reading through the sticky up top and saw a mention of cetane and wanted to ask how it might be affecting me.
I live the in the northwest and get crappy winter fuel seems like most of the year. I've driven up and down the coast and get noticeably better fuel economy in the south. Anyway I'm currently averaging around 44 mpg with cruise set between 70-75. I normally only use shell, but in reading the sticky it seems shell is on the low side for cetane. How much actual impact does that have on fuel economy?
Other than a tune what can I do to boost my overall performance?
