Hi

I have a 2005 1T Touran BKD DSG that is driving me nuts!

Cold starting is laboured with the engine turning over slow until you give it some throttle and then shudders to life. Idles fine, but once warm (coolant temp >82 deg C) cuts out intermittently when your foot is off the throttle such as coasting or approaching traffic lights. Restarts easily most times but sometimes won't restart for 20+ min.

What has been tried:

Anti shudder valve replaced (by a mechanic who told me it was a throttle valve?)
Wiring checked: injector harness (visual inspection and no error codes), crank sensor (reading 2x cam sensor value), fuel temp sensor reading starts the same temp as coolant sender when cold and goes up to 74 deg C or so), grounds and ecu.
Can hear the lift pump run when ignition is turned on.
MAF seems fine: 450 at idle 1200 at 3000rpm

Error codes listed:

16785 - EGR System
P0401 - 000 - Insufficient Flow - Intermittent
Freeze Frame:
RPM: 1554 /min
Torque: 102.0 Nm
Speed: 63.0 km/h
Load: 29.8 %
Duty Cycle: 14.7 %
Bin. Bits: 00001000
Mass Air / Rev.: 350.0 mg/str
Mass Air / Rev.: 655.0 mg/str

00229 - Refrigerant Pressure
002 - Lower Limit Exceeded

00931 - Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Right (F223)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

00873 - Bass Speaker Rear Right (R17)
011 - Open Circuit - Intermittent

00888 - Wiper Switch for Intermittent Operation (E22)
014 - Defective - Intermittent

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can continue my search for this problem?

What data should I log to see what happens immediately before stalling? My first thought is fuel pressure but these are not measured on BKD.
