Folks, the question of car repairs has come up a number of times in the chat room, so I figured I'd start this thread to remind everyone of TDI Fest protocol.

Major car repairs (e.g., timing belts, suspension, turbo swaps, or anything else that involves disassembling your vehicle) are strongly discouraged.

I will provide a few reasons for this.
  1. We don't want people getting stranded due to a botched repair or an unforeseen problem.
  2. Fest is supposed to be a social time, free of worries, car repairs, and potential disasters.
  3. The hotel wouldn't appreciate us taking our cars apart in their parking lot.
If you need work done on your vehicle, you can touch base with some of the mechanics who will be attending and schedule an appointment for some later date.

Thanks for your cooperation!

If it BREAKS there, we can help, but don't schedule maintenance to take place during the fest.

If it breaks due to your tinkering, you're on your own!

Not a repair, but one exception I approved.

Defender Tech will be selling his skidplates there. He will install it for a charge. All charges for installation will be donated to Fred.
